Our first Rare Breed of 2020 is a Berliner Weisse with a tropical twist.
A Berliner Weisse has been in the plans for a while, and after our first few tastes of P.O.G. IPA, we wanted to continue the tropical theme and keep summer around for just a bit longer.
And with everything that’s going on in the world right now, a bit of liquid sunshine is more welcome than ever.
We added pineapple juice and coconut to this brew, and those coconut aromas come through strong on the nose, complemented by delicate pineapple notes.
Delicious aromas aside, what really makes this beer a hot-weather special is the refreshingly tart finish. This is the result of a two-part fermentation: firstly, with a home-grown lactobacillus culture, and then, with a standard ale yeast.
Light-bodied and low on bitterness, this beer has just the right amount of sourness, with the pineapple flavours coming through on the mid-palate. Rounded off with a clean finish, this is one seriously quaffable beer.
This is our first Rare Breed to come in cans, and in light of the current situation, this release will be available exclusively in cans for takeaways.
This beer will be available nationally from Friday 3rd April and the full list of stockists can be found here.
If you’re in Melbourne, you can stop by the brewery any time until 5pm, where our team will be selling takeaway beers and limited-edition tees!
It’s up to you to decide whether to drink this beer straight from the can or poured into a pineapple!
