Gladfield’s Black Forest Rye malt is double steeped, malted, fermented and roasted, with a colour of 200 EBC and has been designed specifically for a strong beer with rich, sweet Christmas cake flavours.Coming out of a chance conversation with Gladfield’s Hayden Lockie, we were challenged to showcase this malt in a beer suitable for Melbourne’s changeable spring weather.The rich rye malt flavour is paired with fruit and spice notes from the Belgian Ardennes yeast strain and balanced with moderate bitterness for a suitably celebratory beverage.
