This is our third annual Barrel Breed Imperial Stout and first batch that has been aged in fresh whisky barrels from the Starward distillery. The 2017 vintage is a painstaking blend of the luckiest 13 barrels (two didn’t make the cut) and a fresh sweet porter brewed to balance out the intense whisky character of the fresh barrels. A blend of fruit esters, chocolate malt, and whisky notes makes this brew reminiscent of the brandy soaked Christmas pudding your mum insists on making every year despite the 35 degree heat. Luckily, this beer is perfectly suited for these chilly Winter nights. Enjoy now or cellar for up to three years.
Smooth and black, with a toffee coloured head.
Hints of Christmas pudding, fruit and spice, with distinctive oak notes.
Cocoa and roasted coffee, with some rounded sweet flavours on mid palate. Finishes relatively dry with a whisky-tinged finish.
