On the nose it’s all fruity hops – tropical and zingy. The palate is full, bitter and rich – the rye helping out with this. It clocks in at 6.1%abv, 60BUs…

Available at McCoppins, Slow Beer, Blackhearts & Sparrows and other discerning beery stores.

Hope you like it!

Good Beer Week 16th & 18th May: Launch of Our Collaboration Brew with Moondog Brewing and Matilda Bay Brewery.

Abbey Collabey – Imperial Stout 8.1% 60BU

Our second Abbotsford Brewery Collaboration. With Moondog Brewing and Matilda Bay (who are sort of in Abbotsford). Brewed just for Good Beer Week. Lots of malt, black as the ace of, and some rum-soaked oak chips added for good measure. All profits from this beer go to the Collingwood Children’s Farm. Drink good beer, do some good: everybody wins.

IN RANDY TONIGHT:

Matilda Bay Brewery’s Alpha Pale – w. Galaxy Hops 5.2% $6.50

Guest tap: Matilda Bay give us a taste of the West Coast USA with this pale ale. ‘Alpha’ comes from name of the acids in the hops that give beer its bitterness. There’s lots of Cascade character, and full malt foundation. We’ve tickled the hopping up by running it thru Randy full of Tassie Galaxy Flowers.

Moondog Brewing’s Henry Ford’s Girthsome Fjord 8.1% 65BU

A guest brew just from our neighbours down the way. A Belgo-American India Brown Ale, what else? Great combination of dark fruit, piney hop and soft Belgian yeast characters. What a girthsome fjord is we have no idea.

The Gypsy & The Goat – Black Pepperberry IPA 7.3%alc/vol 70BU $9.50

Our collaboration brew with Mikkeller, a Black IPA with Pepperberries. First smell is pepper and sarsparilla with a distinct fruity hoppiness. The palate is bitter and sharp and, you guessed it, peppery. Not for the faint hearted.

And of course Steam Ale & Hightail Ale.

The brewery is open open Wed & Fri Nights from 5pm. Pizza, wine & soft drink also available. Hope to see you,

Goats.

This year’s Melbourne Food & Wine Festival is embracing craft beer more than ever (round of applause). There’s Beer Masterclasses, Liquid Lounges and Beer Breakfasts au go-go.

What’s uber exciting for us, tho’, is they’re bringing out Mikkeller Brewery’s Mikkel Borg Bjergsø from Denmark to talk thru his beer philosophies and gypsy brewing ways. If you haven’t heard of Mikkeller, look ‘em up now.

Even better yet, Mikkel’s gonna do a brew with us.

Even better than that, you can be a part of it.

Whoa.

You see, while the brew goes on we’re going to hold an exclusive 5-course dinner for 30 people, catered by pop-up specialists the 36 collective. These guys have experience working at Attica and Cutler & Co – no muckin’ around there.

Each of the courses will be matched with a Goat and Mikkeller beer, and both Mikkel and our own Chief Brewer Dave Bonighton will be there to rumble with you.

Tickets are $150, available from Dec 2nd thru Ticketmaster, and will go fast.

To check out other Festival events including the Liquid Lounge and Beer Breakfast go here.
