How to get here

The brewery bar (aka the Goat Bar) is open Wednesdays 5 – 10pm and Friday 5 – 11pm.

Our street address is 80 North Street, Richmond. Phone 9428-1180. TRAM. Coming from the city is easy. Just head to Flinders Street and jump on a 48 or 75 tram and get off at River St, Richmond. BIKES are good too. We’re very close to the Yarra trail which is a great way to come here. Feel free to wheel your bike right inside and admire it while you have a beer. CAR. There are usually on street parks available out the front of the brewery on North St. See you here.

    Hypothetically, if you were paying excise of $3.60 per litre of alcohol instead of $36.98 per litre of alcohol how much would I pay for a carton of Hightail Ale?

    I’m gonna let you do the maths…Currently we pay around $11.60 p/case in excise. Under your scenario, we’d pay under $1.
    In the end, everyone would benefit!

    My reading of the micro-brewing/craft beer industry is that few actually make a profit from this erstwhile pursuit.
    I’m wondering whether producing beer for no profit falls into the Excise schedule category 1.1.16 – ‘Beer exceeding 3% by volume of alcohol produced for non-commercial purposes (I read here ‘Enjoyment, Education or Medical’) using commercial facilities or equipment, attracting an excise of $2.58 per litre of alcohol calculated on that alcohol content by which the percentage by volume of alcohol of the goods exceeds 1.15′ if one accepts that making a loss shouldn’t really be classified as a commercial activity.
    Just wondering…
