This month we turn 16 years old and on Fri 18 October we’re going to have a couple of beers here at the brewery. We’ll be putting on a free bbq and keg at 5pm sharp so swing by if you can. Cheers, Cam and Dave.
The Goat’s biggest day out of the year is undoubtedly the Community Cup and it’s happening Sun 23 June back at Elsternwick Park. Beasts of Bourbon, Super Wild Horses, King Gizzard the Wizard Lizard, Justine Clark and of course some superb football with the Rockdogs and Megahertz. Steam, Hightail and Surefoot Stout on tap. Gates open noon. See you there.
Mountain Goat is about to turn 15 years old. Not sure how we’ve done it, but we’re still intact and we feel the need to celebrate. First up, Dave has been busy creating a birthday beer – the Triple Hightail, while I have been doing my best to put together a short tour of some of our favourite craft beer bars around the country so we can have a beer with our friends.
Latest Rare Breed starting to hit stores this week is a Black IPA – Before The Dawn. Five malts followed up with Cascade and Galaxy hops introduced in the whirlpool, in fermentation and then via Andy our in-tank hop infuser. 7.4% ABV. 68BU. As the label says…
HOW BLACK? There’s a black that’s blacker than its own shadow. As black as the dark side of the moon. So black even the white bits are black.

Look for it at all good beer stores…

Skipping Girl was brewed with 30% Wheat Malt, and a truckload of Nelson Sauvin and Motueka Hops – added to the conditioning tank. So she’s light on her feet, fruity, tropical – as summery as we could possibly make her.
This one’s straight off the line, fresh as a daisy.
Dry, clean, fruity and just a little bit German, the Hoeff (pronounced “The Hoeff”) is our Hefeweizen. Hefeweizen as a style originated in the South of Germany, one of the cradles of brewing. ‘Hefe’ means yeast, and ‘Weizen’ means Wheat – wammo! cloudy wheat beer. A special yeast was flown in for this one – and it displays all the typical Hefeweizen characters – banana, clove – while leaving a clean, dry finish.
