When planning what to do for our 2016 Barrel Breed Christmas Ale, we wanted a beer that was suited for barrel ageing but could also be enjoyed on a 35+ degree day.

After much deliberation we found the perfect match: a Golden Strong Ale.

Belgian Chateau Pilsner malt drives this beer, lending it a deep golden colour and a pleasantly bready character. Specialty yeast strains impart phenolic and spicy fruit esters reminiscent of pear and a hint of tropical fruit and German Hallertauer hops add a mild bitterness.

This beer finishes dry with a rounded oak character, courtesy of a combination of American and French barrels from our mates at Lark Distillery in Tasmania.

Though deceptively light bodied, this beer comes in at a hefty 9.6% ABV making it perfect for sharing with good company over the festive season.
