Last winter we collaborated with Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters to produce ‘Seedy Goat’ – a Coffee IPA. Well, it’s back for 2012, same same but different.

This year the coffee we’ve chosen is the Nicaraguan Finca Jaime Molina Montecristo. You can call him Jaime (Hy-mee).

Grower Jaime Molina has been a Cup of Excellence Winner three years in a row – he knows his way around a coffee bean. The Seven Seeds guys imported it to Australia and roasted it lightly to keep the fruity elements in tact but deliver maximum coffee flavour. It displays notes of citrus, cherry and cocoa. These elements we’ve matched to the hops in our IPA.

The beer is choc full of fruity Tasmanian Galaxy and US Cascade hop aromas and flavours. It’s got a full malty mouthfeel to underline and support the fruitiness. For the tech heads, it comes in at 6.2% abv, 60BU.

The coffee is subtle, supporting the fruity aromas and not overwhelming the malty palate. We hope you like as much as we do.
