Spring cleaning the other day we found a very early (framed) Hightail Ale recipe that Laurie Cahir (renowned homebrewer) helped us out with. Laurie helped us brew one of the first Hightails on his home system - which was much better than ours at the time. Where are you now Laurie?
He later gave us this framed copy of his notes and recipe at the Crown St brewery launch back in 1999. What a guy.
It got us thinking, maybe we should brew a ‘Hightail Vintage’…and try to replicate the age-old ingredients and ancient brewing techniques to reclaim a lost beer? Really the only thing that’s changed since then is the malt, hops, yeast and water so shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

A vintage would be great! ‘Great Goat’?
Nice! always good to see a bit of history it’s a bit hard to read
but this is what i can decipher:
Mountain Goat Beer
- nutty fruity?
- malty?
- low bitterness?
- dry hop?
